Featuring indigenous winds such as the duduk (hear “Threshold”), strings and percussion, this collection describes the deserts of Asia, from Arabia and the Middle East, to Central Asia, Mongolia and China.
Also collaborating was the Persian/Iranian tanbour player Ali Asghar Rahimi (right), who brought a deeply evocative sound to the project.
Regions that have been referenced include Tibet, the Gobi, Taklamakan and Arabian deserts, and Iran’s Dasht e Lut.
