nic patonA new single, “Under The Rubble”, is released. It is a spoken soundtrack featuring the voice of Rev Munther Isaac, of the Evangelical Lutheran Church, Bethlehem.
A group including many South Africans did a pilgrimage to Palestine/Israel over Christmas 2023, visiting Palestinians and Israelis who have suffered terrible atrocities since the October 7th incursion out of Gaza and the subsequent military action which has seen over 25,000 deaths, most of them children, women and civilians.
Munther Isaac delivered a powerful sermon, used as the basis for this piece. He declared that Christmas would not be celebrated, and that the Christ-child was at this time to be found not in joy, but in deep sadness. In his words,
“We have searched for God … and found him under the rubble, in Gaza.”
