Andrew Eagle and I collaborate on our third project, an album entitled “Too Much a Soul”.

Andrew played his own compositions, mostly on either guitar or piano/keys. I arranged, programmed and produced, and played various other instruments: bass guitar, melodica, percussion, saz, saxes, ocarina, swamandel, clarinets and penny whistle.

The music crosses genres freely and is influenced by South and West Africa as well as jazz and classical traditions. The mood is gentle, groovy and soulful and the idea is that the album takes you on a journey through different soundscapes and moods. It is largely acoustic guitar based with some keyboard tracks to provide sonic diversity.

Amongst influences of the composition and arrangements are Zero Seven, Abdullah Ibrahim, Tinariwen, Pat Metheney.

Say Andrew “I hope you enjoy it. Stay with it. The music grows on you and there is hopefully something in it for everyone.”
