A commemorative remastered re-release of the 1988 Jazzanians album “We Have Waited Too Long”, is now out on Apple, Spotify, Youtube and many more streaming channels.
This was launched together with the memoirs of Darius and Cathy Brubeck and a documentary film, both entitled “Playing The Changes”.
The album represents for me a proud history, one of how jazz represented a brighter future during a dark era in South Africa’s past. The legacy of Darius and Cathy Brubeck and the remarkable story of these musicians was so good to read; the film will be showing in Cape Town on the 27th June and is a worthy reminder of the pain and glories of the anti-apartheid struggle. My compositional contribution was the track Badisa.
