Nic Paton's second album with Melbourne Production Library Strange Fruit is "Lyrical Themes" (SF 196). The key to this collection is its crafted melodic emphasis and often melancholic mood, with piano, winds, string quartet and wide-ranging plucked string instruments.
"Lyrical Themes" explores subtle and poignant feelings like nostalgia and ennui. "Footprints Of The Dancer" is a etude for angelic choir and ukulele, "This Dawn, This Day", a spacious and elegant mood for electric piano, guitar and strings, and "Fading From Memory" which features charango and string quartet, intensifying, coalescing, and dissolving.
