nic patonMy new single “Anything Can Happen” has happened.
It’s released ahead of an album of unrecorded and revisioned songs together with a large batch of fresh material, due in December.
“Anything Can Happen” was mixed by Dave Langemann and co-produced with Joe Wadsworth from TORS in London.
The track features the sultry Ruby Alix on backing vocals and Ronan Skillen on double udu – no one expected that!
The video by Dimitri Otis was shot on the upper slopes of Table Mountain’s Newlands Forest at the end of a wild hike. Guitar ensnared with vines, and balancing atop mossy rocks in a winter squall. Yikes.
The lyric was written in terza rima, a Renaissance form of interlocking rhyme pioneered by Dante. It looks at the perennial call to become aware of our world with its mystery and unpredictability at a time of deep uncertainly when many of our responses to life perpetuate our suffering.
