nic paton“African Experience” (OLMG-196) is my first participation with Nashville-based collective Opening Line Music Group.
I met Chuck Schlacter at the PMA conference in Los Angeles in October 2023, and we just clicked. Fortuitously, he was in the process of assembling an African media album, a multi-composer compilation produced by Marco Iannello, and it was a pleasure to work alongside this international crew.
I used a lot of African guitar, various thumb pianos, saxes and whistles, hand drums and copious percussion. Tracks include “Tombira”, “Mirembe”, “Mamello” and “Bonsella”.
